West Kentish Town Estate

LONDON - PLANNING

BBUK were part of the winning bid lead by AHMM to create a masterplan for 856 new homes and new commercial and community spaces on the site of the 1964 housing development. The regeneration will re-house the existing residents and deliver significant new housing in the borough with a strong focus on sustainability, community and long-term liveability.

The masterplan proposals have been developed through a series of collaborative workshops, and aim to establish a legible public realm with a clear hierarchy of private, communal and public areas that refine routes through the site and how these spaces are landscaped. This will be achieved with tree-lined pathways and squares, designing spaces around existing protected trees, and generally increasing the variety of green pockets and planted areas. A new public open space at the heart of the scheme will also offer new play spaces for the community.
