Villa Atalaia

BBUK designed a family garden at the Villa Atalaia in Portugal. Located in the Algarve, the home is positioned on a cliff top and has wonderful views across rolling countryside towards the sea.
The area to the front of the house is planted with an olive grove and an orchard of almond trees, that shelter the dwelling from the road. At the side of the house a planted staircase leads down to a pool where a new pergola planted with white bougainvillea frames the views towards the sea while also offering privacy. The garden is enclosed on the other side by another pergola where more formal planting is set into a large lawn. This space is divided from the wider landscape by a ha-ha and drystone wall were a new steppingstone path gives onto a meadow of grasses and wildflowers that leads into the rocky hillside terrain beyond. On the Eastern boundary a new bespoke playhouse and trampoline were built in their own garden for the children.
