Trent Basin

BBUK were appointed by Blueprint Ltd in 2019 to design the landscape and public realm for phases 4-6 of a new low-carbon housing development at Trent Basin in Nottingham.
The scheme is part of a larger masterplan with some phases already completed with others currently on site. Phases 4-6, located along the northern banks of the River Trent are the final additions to the scheme and add a further 111 homes to the development which overall will provide a total of 300 apartments, terraced houses and maisonettes.
The phases are divided into 5 courts, and the landscape design and strategy for the scheme includes a public park, internal courtyards and landscaping down the western edge of the Basin and associated public space along the River Trent. The design strategy encompasses the streets and the street hierarchy, car parking areas, incidental open spaces, and streetscape frontage.
Working alongside Proctor and Matthews Architects (masterplanner and lead architect), Sarah Wigglesworth Architects and Turner Works Architects, our aim was to create an inclusive high-quality landscape that provides a joyful and healthy environment in which the residents will feel not only at home but part of a neighbourhood they can take pride in.
