Thames Road Masterplan
BARKING & DAGENHAM - POST PLANNING
BBUK were appointed by Be First, the delivery arm for London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, to assist them in preparing an updated masterplan vision for Thames Road an area of former Strategic Industrial Land that has been de-designated and allocated for mixed-use regeneration.
The ambition was to ensure that the emerging neighbourhood has a distinctive and attractive landscape setting and integrated public realm of the highest quality. Working with the sites unique historic character, we worked in close collaboration with the codesign framework through the design process. The resulting masterplan document covered all areas of public realm and incorporated a wider analysis of the site’s green space, a play strategy and sustainable urban drainage strategy, while also examining pedestrian, cycle and vehicular movement and street hierarchy.
