Ordnance Lane
YORK - POST PLANNING
The City of York Council’s Ordnance Lane project will create 85 new homes on a former MOD site, south-east of the city centre all built to certified Passivhaus standards with energy generated by renewables on site. BBUK are working once again with architects Mikhail Riches on the scheme, which has been designed with local residents to engender a strong sense of community whilst preserving the rich heritage and high-quality existing fabric and character of the site.
The development is easily navigable without the need for vehicles, and includes safe, communal space for social interaction between residents, including an urban orchard, natural play area, communal growing beds in the centre of the scheme and both shared and private gardens. The development will also provide further community facilities in the form of flexible spaces for residents.
