Chadwell Heath Masterplan
BARKING & DAGENHAM - POST PLANNING
Chadwell Heath is one of the largest remaining regeneration opportunities at a Crossrail station and the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham’s new Local Plan identifies it as a key Transformation Area.
The mixed-used masterplan for this 32-hectare site rethinks industrial value in London, setting a new benchmark for city placemaking. The regeneration aim was to cater to young people and families by bringing work opportunities and affordable homes together in an integrated sustainable neighbourhood
The landscape proposes a rich public realm with green arteries, pocket parks and squares that converge at a central market square extending out to local transport hubs – including the new Crossrail station. Streets have been designed to prioritise pedestrians and bicycles, with cycle-friendly green spines across the site, connecting to a cycle superhighway running along the north of the development.
