Camberwell Station Road

BBUK were part of the interdisciplinary team led by JA Projects, working alongside Southwark Council, the GLA and local stakeholders, to make significant public realm improvements to Camberwell Station Road.
Stakeholder engagement was crucial to the success of the project as the road provides access to and from Camberwell Bus Garage as well as Camberwell Sorting Office and numerous small businesses housed in the railway arches; all of these stakeholders were consulted through the pre-design and design stages of the project. Our design included road narrowings at key crossing points improved pathways for pedestrians and cyclists as well as providing sustainable urban drainage and significant greening along the length of the site. Improved spatial conditions also allow for a range of activities and uses. Collectively these measures delivered our strategic aim of a safe and inclusive ‘street for all’.
