227 Wood Lane
WHITE CITY - PLANNING
Working with AHMM BBUK designed the landscape for two linked residential blocks on Wood Lane in White City. The smaller building contains a new head office and 80 affordable homes for Women’s Pioneer Housing, London’s largest specialist housing association for women and the larger 29-storey tower provides 350 co-living apartments.
The development features community living space and amenities as well as the reprovision of public access through the site for which BBUK introduced a stepped path and ramp with resting spaces along the route. We proposed a long series of raised planters along the front of the new building as well as a large rain garden and a series of amenity terraces including a small, planted area at the southern tip and a private, shady garden for the WPH. A large amenity terrace at level 8 is split into three distinct zones and two longer narrow terraces create intimate seating areas and viewing vantage points.
