Following a successful bid submission with AHMM, BBUK have been appointed to the redevelopment of 1 Victoria Street, a significant 1960’s office building which sits in a prominent location within Westminster, overlooking Westminster Abbey and its World Heritage Site setting.
The redevelopment gives amply opportunity to enhance the public realm and green the street scape along all frontages, in particular the area of Abbey Orchard Street facing the Peabody Estate, and the corner of Victoria Street and Great Smith Street. This is the main approach from Westminster and the most important view of the site. The addition of setbacks to the street façade creates pockets of green space through the introduction of a large number of terraces for office users. These add biodiversity whilst providing some much-needed urban greening to the road which this part of Victoria Street is currently lacking.
