Located on the rural-urban fringe outside St Albans on the former site of the Burston garden centre, The Oakleigh retirement village by Collado Collins Architects provides high quality, modern accommodation for later living. The masterplan was landscape led with the groups of buildings arranged around a series of distinctive green spaces. These green areas link the buildings physically and visually to each other and the wider context whilst retaining views to and from the Grade II* listed Burston Manor on the site’s north-western border and the adjacent woodlands to the southeast.
BBUK's landscape design provides a range of different character areas with a variety of external spaces for residents to enjoy. including a village green at the centre of the site surrounded by a clubhouse, care bungalows and 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments.
