Ruskin Square is a residential building designed by AHMM in the heart of East Croydon. The nine story apartment building features a communal roof Garden designed by BBUK.
The client, Places for People, were keen that the garden space was a quiet ‘grown up’ area which were able to articulate by placing loungers set into the lawn from where residents can enjoy the views towards central London to the north and the South Downs to the south.
In the centre of the garden a steel and timber pergola shades a generous dining area, and this is surrounded by blocks of mixed perennial planting in corten steel planters which provide seasonal colour and movement. The roof garden also has areas of lawn to provide places to picnic or sunbathe and new benches and loungers are set out for residents to sit on.
