Quex Road
LONDON 2016
London Borough of Camden appointed BBUK to look at Quex Road, a local play area located on a busy road adjacent to a primary school. The practice undertook local engagement with local school children, residents and stakeholders prior to coming up with their proposals.
The limited budget meant there were not the funds for all-new play equipment, so the pieces in good condition were repainted, with only the broken equipment replaced by a new swing, this was chosen by the local community. A long bench was installed in the south-west facing corner of the park, providing much needed seating for carers and tired children. The play area’s surface was a mix of tarmac and dilapidated safety tiles, so this was taken up, the sub-surface levelled, and a new pink rubber crumb surface was laid.
