Working with architects AHMM, BBUK designed the landscape surrounding a new building for Knauff Drywall on the edge of the marshes in Ridham Dock, North Kent. The building will provide training facilities for the company adjacent to Knauff’s factory.
The site is surrounded by industrial sites and also by a pristine natural landscape comprising an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), The Swale (a Special Protection Area) and a Ramsar (wetland of international importance). Inspired by this, and using only native species, the landscape design surrounds the new building, creating a garden for staff and visitors, as well as an important wildlife corridor connecting the key local landscape areas.
