1 Finsbury Avenue is a Grade II listed building constructed in the early 1980s by Arup. The refurbishment by AHMM shifts the emphasis from single tenancy to mixed-use retail, with leisure and flexible co-working office space. The addition of roof terraces and generous internal public space reinforces British Land’s vision for a vibrant masterplan and public realm.
BBUK worked on the roof terraces on the Eastern side of the building for which we created a bar area and a number of defined work and leisure spaces separated by planters that also run along the eastern perimeter.
In addition, BBUK worked with the artist Morag Myerscough on the planting for her ground floor art installations in the newly created public space including the striking centrepiece’Atoll’.
