BBUK worked with long term collaborators AHMM on East Grove, a phase of Lendlease’s Elephant Park regeneration project, which sits on the site of the former Heygate Estate at Elephant and Castle.
We conceived the East Grove communal podium gardens as a series of rooms. There is a ‘kitchen’ at its heart surrounded by grow gardens clustered around a dining table, this area is adjacent to the ‘playroom’ with door step play, and a ‘snug’ sits in the western corner to monopolise on evening sun. The ‘living room’ is located at the most southerly point and has views over the wider open spaces of Elephant Park beyond, this space has a ‘carpet’ of bricks surrounded by seating and bespoke lighting.
