This new residential development designed by DSDHA delivers 265 student bedrooms, 24 affordable homes and nearly 900m² of ground-floor commercial space in a prime Camden location. The scheme consists of four cylindrical blocks ranging from six to twelve storeys that echo the circular massing of the adjacent grade II listed Roundhouse. The overall design draws inspiration from the prevailing industrial character of the Regent’s Canal conservation area and maintains heritage character through paving patterns and brickwork.
Commercial premises on the ground floor open onto new and enhanced public realm designed by BBUK. This extends along Chalk Farm Road and blends the existing development with the emerging context, through widened footpaths, new seating and planted areas. The addition of a podium garden also helps to maximise urban greening. The development also includes a private roof garden and play and amenity areas at the rear of the site for students and residents.
